Pariser Klimaabkommen – 1,5 Grad Ziel
Motivation und Fragestellung
Bei der 21. UN-Klimakonferenz in Paris wurde im Dezember 2015 das Pariser Übereinkommen beschlossen. 195 Länder haben sich dazu verpflichtet, die globale Erwärmung auf deutlich unter 2° C zu begrenzen, möglichst sogar unter 1,5° C. Der Weltklimarat IPCC wurde eingeladen, im Jahr 2018 einen Sonderbericht über die Folgen einer globalen Erwärmung um 1,5° C gegenüber vorindustriellem Niveau und die damit verbundenen globalen Treibhausgasemissionspfade vorzulegen. Das IPCC beschloss daraufhin die Erstellung dieses Sonderberichts, im Kontext einer Stärkung der weltweiten Reaktion auf die Bedrohung durch den Klimawandel. Der Sonderbericht wurde im Oktober 2018 fertiggestellt, er berücksichtigt und bewertet die einschlägige wissenschaftliche, technische und sozioökonomische Literatur.
Unterschiede in der Verlässlichkeit einzelner Ergebnisse
Die in einer Vielzahl von wissenschaftlichen Untersuchungen gewonnenen Erkenntnisse und deren Übereinstimmung wurden beurteilt und davon die Ergebnisse des IPCC-Sonderberichts abgeleitet. Um die Unsicherheiten im aktuellen Stand des Wissens greifbar zu machen wird zu jedem Ergebnis das jeweilige Vertrauensniveau gemäß der IPCC-Sprachregelung in fünf Abstufungen angegeben: sehr gering, gering, mittel, hoch und sehr hoch.
Die wichtigsten Ergebnisse des IPCC-Sonderberichts werden in der Zusammenfassung für politische Entscheidungsträger als Schlüsselergebnisse präsentiert, zusätzlich werden die derzeit noch bestehenden Wissenslücken angegeben.
Wichtige Begriffe
In diesem IPCC-Sonderbericht sind einige Kernkonzepte und Begriffe von zentraler Bedeutung. Unter „Core Concepts Central to this Special Report“ in der Zusammenfassung für politische Entscheidungsträger ist die Bedeutung der wichtigsten Konzepte und Begriffe erklärt, der Annex I „Glossary“ des 1,5 Grad Berichts enthält eine umfassende Zusammenstellung.
