The Austrian contribution to GEO and GEOSS

What is GEO?

The Group on Earth Observations (GEO) is a voluntary partnership of some 80 countries, the European Commission and 56 International Organisations (status: October 2009), which has given itself the main objective to establish a "Global Earth Observation System of Systems" (GEOSS) until 2015.

What is GEOSS?

The Global Earth Observation System of Systems (GEOSS) shall be established until 2015. GEOSS shall link together all existing earth observation systems world-wide, to create added value for all member states and their citicens. A 10 year plan for the implementation of GEOSS was created.
