Synoptic situation
The RGB pictured here is build from the following MSG channels
- On Red the Brightness Temperature Difference (BTD) of the two WV channels 6.2 and 7.3 μm.
- On Green the BTD of the infrared channels 3.9 and 10.8 μm
- On Blue the BTD of the VIS channels 1.6 and 0.6 μm
In the RGB the CBs with the large ice particles appear as reddish. New young developed high reaching cells are pictured in yellow. The disadvantage of this RGB is that it cannot be used during nighttime because of the use of the two visible channels. For the detection of convection nighttime the use of the Airmass RGB is more appropiate.
