Example 1
The example shows a typical North Foehn situation in the region of the Alps. The substructure in the frontal cloud band caused by a Foehn process
consists of a lower cloud field North of the Alps representing Barrage Cloud, a cloud free wedge in the mountains and a bright high cloud with a sharp edge at or immediately south of the Alps representing high lee cloud.
Example 2
The second example shows a typical South Foehn situation again over the Alps. The substructure in the frontal cloud band caused by a Foehn process
consists of a lower cloud field South of the Alps representing Barrage Cloud, a cloud free wedge in the mountains and a bright high cloud with a sharp edge at or immediately north of the Alps representing high lee cloud.
