Climate

Our climate research aims at the continuous improvement of knowledge regarding the past, present and future climate in Austria and the European Alps.

We broaden the available knowledge regarding climate impacts and provide appropriate bases for adaptation measures with an optimal resolution in space and time. Our top priorities focus on the analysis of climate variability, homogenization of long-term instrumental time series, regional climate modelling, generation of high resolution raster data and climate maps and interdisciplinary mountain and polar research including glaciology and hydrology.

Our HISTALP data base (link to: http://www.zamg.ac.at/histalp/) is regularly updated and provides monthly homogenised temperature, pressure, precipitation, and sunshine records for the 'Greater Alpine Region'.

Series of homogenized daily maximum and minimum temperature and daily precipitation sums can be downloaded from: http://www.zamg.ac.at/cms/de/forschung/klima/datensaetze/homstart

We are pleased to share our experience and knowledge with you.
