Spatial climate datasets

Continuous interpolation of discrete station observations provides a significant gain in spatial climate information.

High-resolution digital grid data are relevant for application in climatology, hydrology and ecology. Moreover, they are an important tool for planning and decision-making in numerous fields like agriculture, construction, tourism and environment protection.

This is why the underlying geostatistical procedures are continuously refined. An apparent realisation of such methods are national and regional climate atlases.
